Listen to HIM

What are the duties of the Christian? Perhaps you will say to me: to go to Mass on Sundays; to fast and abstain during Holy Week; to do this… Yet the first duty of the Christian is to listen to the Word of God, to listen to Jesus because he speaks to us and he saves us by his word. And by this word he makes our faith even stronger and more robust. Listen to Jesus!           -Pope Francis

Lent with the Saints

Visit a local mosque during Lent and ask about the stories and ask about the stories and figures we share with Muslims. Actually this past week was ‘Justice Week’ at SFU, they had inter religious dialogue but I couldn’t attend the events. However on Thursday, we actually had an informal casual conversation about Islam and Christianity in the IFC between H,J and I. (See what I did there. Lol)

Lent with Pope Francis Reflections
What does ‘being Christian’ mean to me? How much time do I set aside to listen to God’s word?
To me being Christian means living my life in the way that Christ would…being Kind, generous, compassionate etc. After listening to a video that Fr Barron produced, I have to add that ‘Christianity isn’t primarily about making me a nice person. It’s like a revolution, an earthquake and witnessing to the power of that earthquake’.
I need to work on the time that I set aside to listen to God’s word. Even though I gave up my distractions, I was solely focused on my midterms and paper this past week. This month, I will work more on listening to the word of God.

“Come now, and let us reason together,”
Says the Lord,
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
They shall be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
They shall be as wool.”
Isaiah 1:18

The noise of life is overwhelming
Drowning out the truth that I need
Open up my ears to hear, open up my ears to hear
